A classic black and white film, Ilford HP5+ has a long history, originating as Hypersensitive Panchromatic plates in the 1930s.
Since then it has progressed through a number of versions, with HP5 plus
being the latest.
In 1960 the 200 ISO emulsion was relabelled as 400 ISO with no change to the product - the 200 speed included an exposure safety margin, but as light meters improved this was deemed unnecessary, thus the speed was revised up to 400 ISO.
