Newell C8 is a universal eight channel charger, compatible with most cylindrical batteries are available for purchase. The LCD shows the voltage, current, charging time, internal resistance and the state of charge of the cell – all this makes it easy to determine the parameters and status of the process. The specially designed housing allows simultaneous charging of even the largest battery (type C or 22650) simultaneously in all eight channels.
Automatic or manual selection of the optimum current
By default, the charger sets the charging current automatically based on the battery characteristics. It is also possible to manually set the current from 100 mA to 1500 mA for lithium-ion batteries and from 100 mA to 1000 mA for Ni-MH and Ni-CD batteries.
Choice of battery type
The Newell Smart C8 automatically recognises the Li-ion 4.2 V and NiMH/NiCd 1.48 V battery type. LiFEP04 and Li-ion 4.35 V batteries are not automatically detected. To charge these batteries, enter their type manually.
Internal resistance and cell capacity measurement
Before charging, the device measures the internal resistance and estimates the capacity of the cell. Both values are presented on the LCD display.
Calculating the capacity by charging
When charging is complete, the display shows the estimated battery capacity.
Numerous safeguards
The protection against incorrect battery insertion and short circuit and the automatic stopping of charging when the battery is fully charged to avoid overcharging make the process safe and energy efficient. The casing made of fireproof materials and the perfectly designed heat dissipation further increase the safety level.
Repair of over-discharged lithium-ion batteries
Most chargers are unable to charge excessively discharged or 0 V cells. The Newell Smart C8 will attempt to reactivate and repair the lithium-ion battery when it detects such a cell. Unfortunately, cells discharged below a certain level are destroyed and it may not be possible to reactivate them.
