Launched in 1959 and in production until 1973, the Nikon F was not only Nikon’s first SLR but was also one of the most advanced cameras of its time with through-the-lens metering and a bolt-on motor drive good for 250 exposures.
It was through this camera that the eponymous F mount was born, a system that’s still in use today.
The Nikon F became a cult icon due to its use in the Vietnam war and travelling into space with the Apollo program.
